You get the error message 0xE001C065 or 0xE001C064 during installation. This is solved by doing the following:
First off, restart the PC that has the error. Close down any open programs.
Visit the MajorGeeks website and download the free AVG program from their servers, not using the AVG download manager as provided by CNET. MajorGeeks are a trusted download site (as are CNET).
Here is a link to the AVG download on Majorgeeks
Close your browser and start the installation using the downloaded file. Once installed, run an update and a full virus scan from the main AVG interface.
If you decide now to upgrade to the full version (which also has a 30 day trial) then this too will get over the installation problem. The advantage here is that your computer will have rootkit scanning functionality and identity theft protection afterwards.
Upgrading to the full version of AVG Internet Security
If you wish to upgrade to the all-singing and dancing version of AVG then it’s a matter of downloading the full version from this link:
AVG Internet Security 9.0
This paid version provides you with a stronger firewall and better scheduled scanning options. It also has identity protection and rootkit scanning built in and you can get immediate free support from AVG.
